If you are a regulated health professional in Ontario or across Canada, you likely have a “toolkit” that is quite impressive. Perhaps you have already completed certifications in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), or Narrative Exposure Therapy. You know the techniques. You understand the theory of trauma. Yet, many clinicians find themselves in the same place after years of practice: assembling a patchwork of tools for every new client, often feeling as though they are “technique shopping” in the middle of a session. This is precisely why we developed trauma-informed psychotherapy training that goes beyond the single modality: it provides the coherent, phase-based nine-step process known as the Becoming Method®.
The Difference Between a Tool and a Framework
In the world of trauma recovery, there is a distinct difference between having a tool and having a blueprint. Many trauma trainings focus on a specific intervention: how to move the eyes, how to speak to a “part,” or how to track a sensation. These are invaluable skills. However, without an overarching clinical framework, the clinician is often left wondering when to sequence these tools and how to hold the client’s entire story: including their family, cultural, and community context: within a single, unified arc.
BEC111: Foundations of the Becoming Method® is designed for the intellectually serious, clinically experienced professional who is ready to move from collecting tools to mastering a clinical process. This 38.5-hour CNA-accredited course doesn’t replace what you already know; it provides the structure that finally makes everything click. Whether you are an RN, Psychotherapist, a Social Worker, or a Nurse Practitioner, BEC111 offers a decolonized and trauma-informed lens that is built into the curriculum from the first day, not appended as an afterthought.
What is the Becoming Method®?
The Becoming Method® is a proprietary psychotherapeutic method that resolves trauma at the root through three distinct phases: Truth-telling, Conscious Forgiveness, and Reconciliation. It represents over twenty years of clinical observation and inquiry distilled into a teachable, supervisable methodology that aligns with the highest standards of professional practice.
- Truth-telling: This is the disciplined witnessing – of both the client and psychotherapist – of what happened, what was lost, and what was adapted to in order to survive. It moves beyond the “event” and looks at the internal overwhelm of the nervous system.
- Conscious Forgiveness: In this phase, we facilitate the rising of subconscious memories and the release of inherited traumatic responses and body memory, ancestral burdens and grievances, and self-judgments that block coherence and agency.
- Reconciliation: This is the return to connection and friendship with those exiles and protect birth in our most traumatic, stressful, and painful moments. The focus is on reintegrating the self, relationships, and the community across personal and systemic fields.
Graduates of BEC111 will develop the knowledge, skill, and clinical judgment to apply this nine-step clinical process with confidence. Based on anecdotal clinical observations, clinicians using this method frequently report significant symptom resolution in clients within three to seven sessions. By focusing on identity disruption and nervous-system dysregulation as the primary points of intervention, the Becoming Method® allows you to track trauma across individual and systemic levels simultaneously.

Why Regulated Health Professionals are Choosing BEC111
This training was specifically built for those who carry the weight of complex caseloads. We understand that in your practice, you aren’t just dealing with “symptoms.” You are dealing with the intersection of child welfare, housing instability, racialized violence, and intergenerational loss.
For Social Workers and MSW-Level Clinicians, the Becoming Method® provides a way to see all these systemic forces in a single coherent clinical picture. For RNs, NPs, and RPNs, this training translates Polyvagal-informed language into practical assessment and intervention steps that can be used at the bedside or in community visits. It ensures that trauma-informed care isn’t just a concept, but a regulated clinical act performed within your professional scope.
As part of our commitment to excellence, BEC111 is recognized under the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) continuing education framework. This means you are receiving 38.5 documented contact hours that are professionally recognized and portable across the healthcare system.
The Structure: Intensive Learning, Sustained Support
We know that true clinical mastery isn’t achieved in a single weekend. That is why BEC111 is delivered in a unique hybrid format designed to support your real-world application of the method.
- Phase 01: The 3-Day In-Person Intensive (Brampton, ON)
From September 11–13, 2026, you will join a capped cohort of just 15 clinicians at our Brampton location. These three days are immersive and rigorous. You will work through the Smashing the Mirror™ trauma framework, the Levels of Consciousness assessment, and the structured arc of Truth, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation. - Phase 02: Four Monthly Zoom Sessions
Following the intensive, the cohort meets once a month via Zoom for case consultation. This is where the learning becomes grounded. You bring your real cases, your challenges, and your successes. You receive direct feedback and clinical guidance as you begin to apply the Becoming Method® to your own caseload.
This format ensures you are never applying a new method alone. It fosters a community of practice where peer support and clinical accountability are the standards.

A Decolonized and Anti-Oppressive Framework
At Becoming Institute Inc., we lead every training from a wholeness lens, not a deficit lens. We do not pathologize the human response to suffering. Instead, we acknowledge the structural forces: colonization, anti-Black racism, and intergenerational trauma: that shape the nervous system’s experience of the world.
In BEC111, anti-oppressive practice is not a separate module; it is the foundation. We explore how systemic oppression shapes trauma presentation and how to work with that context directly in session. This approach centers the voices and experiences of those most affected and provides clinicians with the tools to offer truly culturally safe and trauma-informed care. For more information on our values and clinical standards, we encourage you to review our student handbook.
Secure Your Spot in the September 2026 Cohort
The next cohort of BEC111 begins on September 11, 2026. Because we prioritize depth and individual case consultation, we cap our cohorts at only 15 seats. These spots fill quickly as clinicians look for ways to deepen their practice and achieve more consistent outcomes for their clients.
Early-Bird Pricing: If you register 60+ days before the cohort start, you can take advantage of our early-bird rate of $1,755 CAD (a 10% savings off the full program fee of $1,950 CAD). This is an investment in your clinical future and the well-being of the communities you serve.
If you are ready to stop technique-shopping and start working within a coherent, evidence-informed clinical process, we invite you to join us. You can welcome your transition to a more anchored practice here.
