Marker / Grader (Contract)

Overview

The Becoming Institute is seeking two Marker/Graders to support our Psychological Health and Safety Certificate Program.You will assess participant submissions—knowledge checks and applied workplace artifacts—against standardized rubrics and service levels, providing clear, criteria-based revision direction and regrading resubmissions within tight turnaround windows.

Skills Required
  • 5+ years of experience in assessment, evaluation, marking, quality review, or other standards-based review functions (education, training, workforce programs, or professional development).
  • Strong rubric-based judgment and the ability to apply criteria consistently (PASS vs REVISION).
  • Ability to write concise, constructive revision notes aligned to the rubric (not “coaching essays”).
  • High attention to detail and record integrity (status tracking, versioning, audit-ready documentation).
  • Comfort working at high volume with time-bound service levels and structured workflow tools.
  • Strong professional discipline and confidentiality in handling participant submissions.
  • Asset: familiarity with leadership development, organizational health, or workplace psychological health concepts.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Review and grade module submissions using standardized rubrics and decision rules (PASS / REVISION).
  • Provide clear, concise criteria-based revision guidance when REVISION is required.
  • Re-grade resubmissions within shorter turnaround windows and close submissions promptly.
  • Maintain accurate status updates in the tracking system (submitted / in review / PASS / REVISION / closed).
  • Flag recurring learning gaps or rubric ambiguity to the QA/Evidence Lead and Facilitator Lead to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clean documentation of grading decisions to support defensible completion verification and reporting integrity.
  • Participate in periodic calibration to ensure grading consistency across markers (if multiple markers are engaged).
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to manage high-volume marking with tight turnaround times and consistent application of PASS / REVISION decision rules.

  • Strong written judgment: able to produce concise, criteria-based revision direction aligned to the rubric.

  • High standards for confidentiality and record integrity, including disciplined status tracking and audit-ready documentation.

  • Willingness to participate in calibration routines to maintain consistent grading decisions across cohorts.

  • Graduate student (Master’s or PhD) currently enrolled and in good academic standing in: adult learning, assessment and evaluation, human resources, workforce development, psychology, behavioural science, organizational development, or public administration.

  • Asset: Prior experience with rubric-based marking, evaluation, or standards-based review in professional or academic settings.
